When choosing between traditional braces and Invisalign consider:
The average cost of braces is between $5,000 and $6,000, though the cost varies greatly depending on how much treatment is required to achieve the perfect smile. Additionally, many insurance providers offset the cost of braces greatly, meaning that some patients may pay at little as $3,000 for orthodontic braces.
Invisalign treatments typically cost anywhere between $3,000 and $7,000. This cost is often at least partially covered by insurance. The cost of treatment depends on the amount of time required to align teeth as well as other factors that you can discuss with your dentist.
While undergoing orthodontic treatments of any kind, you should still regularly see the dentist (at least every six months). Additionally, you will need to visit the dentist for regular checkups and/or orthodontic appliance adjustments. The frequency of these checkups varies depending on your needs and dentist’s recommendations.
When wearing braces, it is important to clean them thoroughly by brushing your teeth twice a day. Additionally, you should use an antiseptic mouthwash and floss as you normally would. If flossing is a challenge for you while undergoing orthodontic treatment, consider using a Christmas tree brush instead.
One of the easiest ways to clean an Invisalign retainer is to remove it and brush your aligner with your normal toothpaste and toothbrush. For a deeper clean, you can also let your aligner soak in lukewarm water that has dissolved a denture-cleaning tablet. Whether you prefer to brush or soak your aligner, remember to never put it in any type of hot appliance such as a dishwasher, or emerge it in boiling water as this can melt and warp your aligner.
